Stockport NHS Foundation trust provides hospital services for children and adults in Stockport and the high peak area of Derbyshire, as well as public health services for Stockport, Tameside and Glossop. Ann Barnes-chief Executive trusts and Adrian Belton is Chairman of the trust, who took over as Chairman in June 2017. On April 1, 2004, the trust was established one of the first NGS in the country to achieve the objectives of the Foundation. The trust provides hospitalization primarily between Stockport and high peak and has more than 5.800 employees working at two hospital sites and over 41 total clinics. Opened a new £20 million medical-surgical center 120 seats, in the acute period of the disease, surgical assessment unit and short stay surgery and 18 operating in October 2016 for emergency and high risk General surgery. It has capacity for more than 30.000 transactions every year.

Stockport NHS trust formed in April 2000, following the merger of Stockport acute services and Stockport healthcare NHS trust. The organisation became a Foundation trust in 2004 - one of the first ten Foundation trusts in the UK. The trust was the first in the country to achieve clinical pathology accreditation for their care testing in December 2011. Stockport NHS Foundation Trust was the first in the country awarded the international accreditation ISO for emergency planning - April 2013.
